Who We Are

ThatName Woman is a BAME-led organisation dedicated to empowering women and girls from ethnic minorities. Our mission is to provide holistic support that fosters confidence, resilience, and improved mental health and wellbeing. We conduct workshops, coaching sessions, and advocacy campaigns to promote conversations on the power of women and girls.

ThatName Woman has a rich history of working with girls and women from diverse ethnic backgrounds, particularly those of African, Caribbean, Asian, and Minority Ethnic origins. This experience equips us with a deep understanding of the unique challenges these groups face.

ThatName Woman is united in the mission to empower women and girls struggling with confidence and self-esteem. Led by a female chair, we operate supported by passionate volunteers dedicated to fostering change and growth. We adopt a culturally sensitive approach, ensuring our programs are relevant and respectful of the diverse backgrounds of our participants. We understand and respects the importance of clients’ confidentiality and values the right of all people to live in safety and be treated with respect.

With a proven track record in delivering impactful programs, ThatName Woman is well-positioned to inspire and uplift girls and women from minority ethnic origins, empowering them to break barriers within our community.

MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for taking out time to visit our website!

I am truly humbled by the opportunity to lead this dynamic sisterhood. Our focus on wellbeing continues to be our guiding principle as we expand our community.

Reflecting on the past five to ten years fills me with immense pride for all that we have achieved together. I am proud of our collective accomplishments. I feel a renewed sense of purpose and commitment as I write!

Equality is essential for women and girls, empowering them to dream freely, pursue their ambitions, and live boldly. We are navigating challenging times that require our attention and dedication to meet the needs of our community. The journey of empowerment is ongoing, and we remain steadfast in our mission to create forums that enable us to live our best lives and bring our dreams to fruition. For too long, women have been undervalued; our mission is to foster growth and empowerment among women.

Many underestimate the significance of their existence. It’s vital to recognise your own value and understand how many people draw inspiration from your belief in them.

It’s your choice to reclaim your power whenever you feel powerless. Nothing that has happened in your life can stand in the way of who you aspire to become.

Your purpose is to continuously strive for self-improvement. As you focus on your growth, you will be better equipped to support those around you, allowing for collective healing.

I encourage you to take time for self-reflection, embracing kindness, compassion, love, and acceptance – It’s time to rest in the truth of who you are.

It brings me immense joy to witness the impact of our work, as more individuals begin to explore their inner selves and prioritise their healing. This transformation is changing how they engage with the world, making it a better place for everyone.

It’s all about embracing life’s lessons and reinventing yourself while remaining true to who you are. Now is the time to take the experiences you’ve gathered and transform them into a five-star masterpiece. Just remember, to create something extraordinary, you’ll need to use the same foundational ingredients from your past!

We are all in charge of our happiness and I strongly believe, we can achieve this together!

Queen Em had reached out to me to talk about domestic violence in Moliere’s language. Little did I know it was the door to this beautiful platform ThatNameWoman. During the beginning of the COVID Pandemic and the lockdown life became so challenging after work.
Then came the invitation to join this platform that has been a support system throughout the past year and continues to be. I have met beautiful souls and know that I am in a safe space to share my emotions. The platform is not only a support one but we are family and I look forward to the Friday hangouts where I have learned a lot and shared some me.

I met Queen Em and joined the safe space – ‘ThatNameWoman’ at a time in my life when I was practically dragging myself out of a dark pit of confusion and uncertainty. I was struggling with self-doubt after I made some crucial choices that cost me a promising ten-year-old Communication Career. In this Safe Space, I found encouragement, hope and validation. Thanks to the weekly hang out, I met women who despite personal struggles are bent on achieving enviable life goals and attaining true fulfilment. They challenge me to harness my potential, to believe in myself and to dream big my circumstances notwithstanding. I am glad to be part of this tribe with women who sharpen fellow women. Yes!, together we are stronger. ThatNameWoman is a force to reckon with.
